French international of Cameroonian descent Kylian Mbappe paid a surprise visit to relegation-threatened Caen a day after his Champions League heroics.
The former Paris Saint Germain star emerged as the hero when Real Madrid defeated Manchester City in the Champions League playoffs to secure a spot in the last 16.
Mbappe netted a hat-trick at the Santiago Bernabéu as Real Madrid edged out the Premier League outfit 6-3 on aggregate.
Following his exploit, the France captain traveled back home to engage Caen players, where he is a majority shareholder of the team.
Caen has yet to find their rhythm in the ongoing campaign and are currently bottom rock of Ligue 2 table and stranded by 10 points to 16th-placed Clermont Foot in the play-off spot.
Mbappe took advantage of the rest day granted by Carlo Ancelotti to the Madrid squad to visit his struggling side and make a speech to the Caen squad.
“I believe in this, and you must believe in it too,” Mbappe told the squad as the battle against relegation continues.
