France-born forward of Cameroonian descent, Hugo Ekitike, is travelling to England today to undergo a medical examination ahead of his move to Liverpool.
Once the medical is cleared and successful, the 23-year-old will sign a long-term contract with the Reds, keeping him at the club until 2031.
Liverpool and Frankfurt agreed to a blockbuster deal on Monday, with the transfer fee reportedly set at €90 million plus €5 million in performance-based add-ons.
The move marks a remarkable turnaround for Frankfurt, which initially signed Ekitike on loan from Paris Saint-Germain in January 2024 before making the transfer permanent for just €20 million.
Less than a year later, the Bundesliga club is poised to make a fivefold profit.
Ekitike’s rise has been nothing short of meteoric. His standout performances in both the Bundesliga and the Europa League during the second half of the 2024/25 season caught the attention of top clubs across Europe.
At Liverpool, he is expected to be a key part of a new-look attack under the incoming manager, as the club begins a major rebuild.
The English club is expected to announce the official signing of the forward this week.
