Paris Saint-Germain’s young right-back Yoram Zague is set to leave the French capital on loan, with a move to Danish champions FC Copenhagen nearing completion, according to Le Parisien.
The 19-year-old French-Cameroonian defender, who has not been included in Luis Enrique’s squad for the upcoming Club World Cup, will join Copenhagen on a temporary deal that includes an option to buy.
PSG see the move as a crucial step in the player’s development, offering him consistent first-team experience that has been difficult to secure in Paris.
Zague made six senior appearances for PSG during the 2023/24 season—four in Ligue 1 and two in the Coupe de France. Though opportunities have been limited, he has shown promise in his outings and particularly stood out at the youth level.
He was instrumental in PSG’s U19 championship win, scoring in the final against Nantes to help secure a 2–1 victory.
A dual national, Zague is eligible to represent both France and Cameroon at international level. Currently capped at youth level by France, he remains on the radar of both national teams as his professional career gathers momentum.
His loan to FC Copenhagen provides him with a chance to further his development in a competitive league. The Danish champions, known for their emphasis on nurturing young talent and regularly competing in European tournaments, offer a platform for Zague to play regular senior football in a high-level environment.
Copenhagen reached the round of 16 in last season’s UEFA Europa Conference League before being eliminated by Chelsea. The Premier League side went on to win the competition, defeating Real Betis 4–1 in the final.
Despite their European exit, Copenhagen’s domestic and continental pedigree makes the club an attractive destination for a player seeking to prove himself on a larger stage.
The inclusion of a purchase option in the loan deal suggests that PSG are open to a permanent transfer, should Zague thrive in Denmark. For the player, this move marks a critical moment in his young career, offering the chance to step out of the shadow of a star-studded PSG squad and establish himself at senior level.
Back in Paris, the decision aligns with the club’s broader strategy of developing talent through carefully selected loan spells. With a strong pool of young defenders and intense competition for places in the first team, PSG continues to rely on strategic loans to accelerate player growth without compromising match readiness.
Zague is expected to complete his move to FC Copenhagen in the coming days and join the squad in time for pre-season preparations. As he begins this new chapter in Denmark, both PSG and the Danish club will be watching closely to see whether the young French-Cameroonian can take the next step in fulfilling his considerable potential.
