French international of Benin descent Jules Kounde turned down Manchester City to stay at Barcelona.
The Premier League outfit recently made an approach to secure the services of the versatile player from the Spanish giants.
Manchester City planned an offer to lure Kounde from the five-time Champions League holders but the France star made clear his desire to stay at Barca.
The Premier League club are now prioritising other alternatives after scrapping their bid to sign Kounde.
According to reports, Kounde turned down Manchester City because of their dismal performance in the ongoing campaign.
Manchester City have been inconsistent this season and are currently fourth on the Premier League standings. The team could not also secure qualification to the last 16 of the Champions League campaign this season.
Kounde has made 40 appearances for Barcelona this season, scoring three goals and serving eight assists across competitions.
