Rayan Cherki’s dream of joining Real Madrid has hit a roadblock.
Despite his reported €22 million valuation and the support of Zinedine Zidane, the Spanish giants have decided not to pursue the Olympique Lyonnais talent this summer.
According to Real Madrid Confidencial, the club’s leadership, including incoming manager Xabi Alonso, believe there’s simply no space for Cherki in an already stacked attack. With the likes of Vinicius Jnr, Rodrygo, Brahim Diaz, Arda Guler, Kylian Mbappe, and Endrick set to compete for minutes, the focus is on maintaining balance rather than adding more firepower.
Cherki, who has openly shared his desire to wear the famous white shirt, must now wait and continue proving himself in Ligue 1. His price may be a bargain for now, but Madrid are unwilling to make moves that disrupt their current structure.
Still, the door isn’t fully shut. Real’s chief scout Juni Calafat will keep a close watch on Cherki’s progress. If the talented winger continues to shine, his Bernabeu dream might just come true in the seasons ahead.
