Morocco head coach Walid Regragui continues to maintain strong, personal connections with some of the Atlas Lions’ key figures, notably Romain Saiss and Hakim Ziyech.
Both players were instrumental during Morocco’s historic run at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, but have since struggled to sustain that level due to various setbacks.
Despite these challenges, Regragui has been closely tracking Saiss’s recovery following a recent surgery in Qatar.
The coach remains optimistic about the former captain’s fitness, believing he is close to making a full return and rejoining the national team.
As for Ziyech, Regragui reportedly held an extended meeting with the winger in Qatar before the season concluded.
Their discussions centred on the player’s future with the national team and his need to return to peak form amid increasing competition in the squad.
Ziyech, who recently parted ways with Qatari side Al-Duhail, is currently in Marrakech. He is in ongoing discussions with Regragui regarding his next move.
The former Chelsea and Ajax star has drawn interest from Serie A side Bologna, although his destination for the upcoming season remains uncertain.
