Freddy Adu, the American international of Ghanaian origin, could be making a return to competitive football soon. Since his contract with the Brazilian club Bahia was terminated last November, Adu has been without a club. However, there are reports that he is undergoing a trial with Blackpool, currently positioned 15th in the Championship (England’s second division).
Once considered a prodigious talent, Adu has struggled in recent years, playing for various clubs in different countries including Monaco, Belenenses in Portugal, Aris Salonika in Greece, and Rizespor in Turkey. Now, if he wishes to revive his career in England and impress the Blackpool staff, Adu will first need to secure a work permit, which is a necessary requirement for foreign players in the country.
