Kenyan defender Frank Onyango Odhiambo is on the brink of a transfer from Swedish top-flight club Djurgardens IF to Danish club Horsens FC, according to sources from Africafoot.
The 21-year-old, who has spent the past season on loan at Swedish third-division club AFC Eskilstuna, is set to make a permanent move as his contract with Djurgardens approaches its expiration in November.
Odhiambo returned to Djurgardens following his loan spell, but he has been deemed surplus to requirements by the club’s management.
With no extension offer forthcoming, Djurgardens have been open to allowing him to leave before the summer transfer window closes.
Negotiations with Horsens FC have been progressing well, according to a representative from his agency, EMG Mundial.
“Frank is a talented young player who deserves respect and regular playing time.
Horsens have shown that they are ready to offer that,” the representative stated.
“The discussions have been positive, and he will sign a four-year contract.
This move is expected to be Frank’s big stepping stone to bigger dreams.”
Odhiambo’s versatility on the field, capable of playing both as a center-back and as a defensive midfielder, has made him an attractive prospect for Horsens FC.
Despite being relatively young, he has already gained valuable experience playing across various levels of Swedish football, including stints with Vasalunds IF, IFK Haninge, and Djurgardens U21, as well as with Kenyan giants Gor Mahia FC.
During his loan spell at AFC Eskilstuna, Odhiambo made 13 appearances across all competitions, scoring one goal.
His performances have highlighted his potential, leading to interest from Horsens, who are keen to provide him with the platform to develop further in Denmark’s competitive football environment.
In addition to his club career, Odhiambo has represented Kenya at various youth levels, including the U15, U17, and U21 teams.
He made his debut for the senior national team, the Harambee Stars, in 2021, marking his progression as a promising talent on the international stage.
As Odhiambo prepares for his move to Denmark, the four-year contract with Horsens FC is expected to provide him with the stability and opportunity to grow his career.
The Danish club, known for nurturing young talent, appears to be the ideal environment for the Kenyan defender to continue his development and pursue his ambitions in European football.
With his transfer to Horsens FC imminent, Odhiambo is poised to take the next significant step in his career, as he aims to establish himself in Danish football and potentially make a name for himself on a larger stage in the years to come.
