Franco-Cameroonian star Kylian Mbappe to wear jersey number 10 at Real Madrid next season
France international of Cameroon descent Kylian Mbappe is set to change his jersey number at Real Madrid ahead of the upcoming 2025/26 football campaign.
The former Paris Saint Germain star was handed the number 9 jersey after penning a long-term contract with the Spanish giants last summer.
Mbappe now looks set to change his shirt number from 9 to his preferred 10 following the departure of Croatia legend Luka Modric.
The 26-year-old had to settle for the number 9 shirt because his favourite numbers (7 and 10) were occupied by both Vinicius Jnr and Luka Modric.
According to reports, it was the club’s decision for Mbappe switch from the number 9 to 10 jersey. The France international did not request for the change.
Real Madrid are also understood to be aware of the commercial impact of the switch: the club is poised to capitalise once again on merchandising.
Despite scoring 44 goals across all competitions in his debut campaign with Los Blancos, Mbappé will now swap numbers to align with his traditional shirt for Les Bleus.
