Tyrese Noubissie has officially left Manchester City to sign with Ligue 1 side RC Strasbourg, ending his time with the English club at just 16 years old.

The French-Cameroonian midfielder turned down a long-term contract offer from City in favour of returning to France to continue his development.

According to L’Équipe, Noubissie made the decision to leave England despite Manchester City’s efforts to retain him with a renewed deal.

The highly rated teenager has instead opted for a move that he believes will offer a clearer path to first-team football and greater opportunities to grow in a competitive environment.

His signing is a significant coup for Strasbourg, especially considering that Manchester United were reportedly interested in acquiring the young talent. Noubissie’s decision to join the Alsatian club rather than remain within the English football system highlights the player’s strategic approach to his career at this early stage.

Born in France and of Cameroonian heritage, Noubissie has already drawn attention for his maturity on the pitch and technical ability in midfield.

At just 16, he has featured prominently in youth competitions and has been considered one of the most promising prospects to come through Manchester City’s academy in recent years.

City had hoped to keep him within their development system, which has produced a number of Premier League-ready players in recent seasons.

However, Noubissie has chosen to return to France, where he will now link up with Strasbourg’s youth setup, which is increasingly seen as a launchpad for young talent under the club’s new ownership structure.

While the full terms of the deal have not been disclosed, the move underscores Strasbourg’s growing ambition to invest in future stars.

Backed by their recent partnership with BlueCo – the consortium that also owns Chelsea – the French club is actively working to enhance its scouting and recruitment network across Europe.

Noubissie’s arrival fits squarely into that strategy. Viewed as a player with high potential and a calm presence in central midfield, he is expected to begin training with Strasbourg’s first-team squad during the pre-season period.

Club insiders suggest that he will initially feature with the reserve side, with a view to gradually integrating him into the senior team.

The teenager’s decision to move has also caught the attention of fans of the Cameroon national team. Though he has not yet represented either France or Cameroon at youth international level, both federations are likely to keep a close watch on his progress in the coming seasons.

For Noubissie, the transition to Strasbourg represents a pivotal chapter in a career that has only just begun but is already attracting continental attention.

His bold choice to leave a Premier League giant in favour of a more direct development route in Ligue 1 could prove to be the right move in the long term.

As the 2025–2026 season approaches, all eyes will be on how the young Franco-Cameroonian adapts to life in Strasbourg and whether he can fulfil the potential that so many have already seen in him.
