Franco-Cameroonian defender William Saliba out of action for three-four weeks

France international of Cameroonian descent William Saliba has been ruled out of action for up to four weeks following an injury setback at Arsenal.

Saliba pulled out with an ankle injury while in action against Liverpool in a fierce Premier League clash last week. The enterprising centre-back had to be subbed off after just minutes into the match.

Having succumbed to injury, the defender pulled out of the France squad for the September international break games against Ukraine and Poland, with Benjamin Pavard stepping in as a replacement.

As he faces three-four weeks on the sidelines, the 24-year-old is expected to miss the October international break as well as Didier Dechamps intends not to include him in the squad

Besides, Saliba will miss the Premier League games against Nottingham Forest and Manchester City as well as the Gunners’ Champions League opener against Athletic Bilbao.

Meanwhile, the Frenchman then faces a race against time to be fit for Arsenal’s Premier League away game against Newcastle United, which is set three weeks from now.
