Maghnes Akliouche and his Monaco teammates endured a frustrating night as they conceded a last-minute equaliser in a 1-1 draw against Toulouse in their Ligue 1 clash on Friday.
Despite controlling much of the game, the Monegasque side saw their lead slip away when Cameroon international Frank Magri struck late to rescue a point for the visitors on matchday 25.
The Franco-Algerian midfielder delivered an impressive performance, but the late setback left him deeply disappointed.
Monaco Let Victory Slip Away
Monaco had looked poised to secure all three points, maintaining control for much of the encounter. However, their inability to retain possession in the latter stages proved costly, allowing Toulouse to capitalise in the dying moments.
Speaking to DAZN after the match, Akliouche did not hide his frustration:
“A blow to the head? Yes, of course. We are disappointed because we played the game we needed to. But in the second half, we gave the ball away a bit too much and were punished at the end of the game. It’s frustrating because we still played a good game. But that’s football, and we’re going to have to bounce back.”
A Setback in Monaco’s European Ambitions
The result comes as a blow to Monaco’s aspirations in the Ligue 1 standings, as every dropped point could prove crucial in their pursuit of European qualification.
The draw leaves them with little margin for error as they prepare for the challenges ahead.
For Akliouche and his teammates, the focus now shifts to recovering from this disappointment and ensuring they do not let similar lapses cost them in the upcoming fixtures.
