Francis Uzoho swaps Omonia Nicosia for city rivals Omonia 29th May

Nigeria goalkeeper Francis Uzoho has joined Omonia 29th May from Omonia Nicosia on a free transfer.

The 27-year-old has signed a contract with the Cyprus League club running until 31 May 2027, completing a move across Nicosia after five years with Omonia Nicosia.

Uzoho arrives with extensive experience of Cypriot football, having made the switch to Omonia Nicosia from APOEL Nicosia as a free agent in September 2021. He previously spent time with Spanish side Deportivo La Coruna, joining them from APOEL in July 2020 for a fee of €250,000.

The goalkeeper also had loan spells at Omonia Nicosia, Elche and Anorthosis during his time with Deportivo. His earlier career began in the youth system at Campos FA before he moved to Aspire Football Dreams and subsequently joined Deportivo’s academy.

Uzoho has won domestic honours in Cyprus, lifting the Cypriot Cup twice with Omonia Nicosia in 2022 and 2023. He was also part of the Omonia Nicosia side that became Cypriot champions in the 2025-26 season.

On the international stage, Uzoho was part of the Nigeria team that finished runners-up at the Africa Cup of Nations in the 2023-24 campaign. He also won the Under-17 World Cup with Nigeria in 2013.

The move gives Omonia 29th May a goalkeeper with experience in Cyprus and European competition. Uzoho’s previous club had been involved in qualifying matches for both the 2026-27 UEFA Champions League and Europa League, although he did not make an appearance in either competition before switching clubs.

Uzoho’s market value is listed at €300,000, while his highest recorded value was €1m. He joins Omonia 29th May without a transfer fee and will remain under contract until the end of May 2027.
