Adil Rami Refuses to Give Up on French National Team Comeback
Don’t tell Adil Rami that his days with the French national team are over—he’s not buying it. Now a regular starter at AC Milan, the Franco-Moroccan defender believes he still has a shot at representing Les Bleus again, despite not being in Didier Deschamps’ recent plans.
Speaking on L’Équipe 21, Rami admitted he’s made mistakes in the past that may have cost him his spot, but he remains optimistic:
“I will never forget where I come from—that’s what gives me the strength to remain myself. They don’t talk about me much anymore in the French team, but I’m at AC Milan, I’m putting in good performances. I’m not quite old yet, so we’ll see. I trust my destiny. (…) I have my character, I’ve made a few mistakes.”
Rami, known for his passion and fiery personality, seems to be using his Milan form as a platform to relaunch his international career. While the competition in defense for France remains fierce, the 29-year-old isn’t closing the chapter on Les Bleus just yet.
