As of this morning, France has a new government under the leadership of Manuel Valls, a notable fan of FC Barcelona. Among the new appointments, Najat Vallaud-Belkacem has been named Minister of Sports, continuing her role from the previous government.
Of Moroccan origin, Vallaud-Belkacem was born in 1977 in Beni Chiker, a village in the Cherifian Kingdom near Nador, in the Rif region. She grew up in France, joining her father, who worked as a construction worker, and lived in Abbeville and later in Amiens.
In the previous government, Vallaud-Belkacem held the positions of Government Spokesperson and Minister of Women’s Rights.
