Following the recent friendlies against Tunisia and Benin, Fouzi Lekjaa, president of the Moroccan Football Federation, met with national team coach Walid Regragui to discuss the Atlas Lions’ plan ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
With Morocco set to host the tournament next December, the team is targeting their second AFCON title, having last won the championship in 1976.
Sources reveal that Lekjaa has reaffirmed his full support for Regragui, confirming he will remain at the helm of the national team.
It was also agreed that Morocco will host their 2026 World Cup qualifying matches against Niger and Congo in Rabat.
In preparation for the Africa Cup of Nations, the Moroccan Football Federation is in talks with several leading African teams to arrange three friendly games.
Both Regragui and the federation declined multiple offers to play European opponents.
Additionally, the coaching staff will remain unchanged, with Regragui retaining his current assistants.
