Fouzi Lekjaa, President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, has announced the start dates for the 2025-2026 football season following a key meeting with national club presidents on Friday.
The first division is set to kick off in the first week of August, while the second-tier “Pro 2 Championship” will begin in September. Exact dates will be communicated soon.
According to Hespress, Lekjaa also discussed broader development strategies during the meeting at the federation’s headquarters, focusing on time programming, scheduling improvements, and raising the quality of Moroccan football from next season.
Last season introduced a decisive match system to determine promotion and relegation. Hassania Agadir managed to avoid the drop, while Salmi, Morocco Tetouan, and Chabab Mohammedia were relegated. In contrast, Olympique Dcheira, Kawkab Marrakech, and Yacoub Mansour earned promotion under the new format.
RS Berkane’s title win was historic, claiming their first-ever league trophy and capturing the CAF Confederation Cup for a third time. The new campaign aims to build on this momentum and reshape the league’s competitive structure.
