Ahmed Hossam “Mido,” the former Egyptian football star, praised Fouzi Lekjaa, the president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, attributing to him a series of successes achieved by Moroccan football in recent years.
However, he also emphasized areas of disagreement with Lekjaa.
Speaking to Saudi channel “Al-Sharq,” Mido stated, “Lekjaa is a man who works for the nation’s interests and has made significant contributions to the development of Moroccan coaches and national teams.
He is the key to the recent success of Moroccan football.”
Mido continued, “Fouzi Lekjaa succeeded in providing high-level training courses for local coaches in Europe through his connections, serving Moroccan football.
He has also worked effectively with Moroccan national teams and major clubs.”
Regarding his visit to the Mohammed VI Football Complex, Mido remarked, “It is among the best football facilities globally.
The decision to dismiss Vahid Halilhodžić, who was considered a problematic and arrogant coach, was wise, and appointing Walid Regragui was successful.”
However, Mido expressed disagreement with Lekjaa, stating, “Although I disagree with him on the issue of opening the door for a group of Europeans to take over the African Confederation and giving FIFA President Infantino a greater chance to approach CAF, he is a devoted man who has contributed significantly to Moroccan football.”
Fouzi Lekjaa’s tenure as president has seen Moroccan football experience notable advancements, both domestically and internationally, leading to a positive trajectory for the sport in the country.
