Senegal international Mame Thiam has etched his name into the history books of Senegal following his goal against Demirspor in the Turkish Super Lig.
Thiam was on target when his outfit Eyüpspor thumped their opponent 6-0 in the week 31 clash of the top-flight. With 68 goals, the 32-year-old has become the second highest scoring Senegalese in the Turkish League.
The enterprising attacker has surpassed Fenerbahçe legend Moussa Sow, who previously held the second spot among Senegal’s top scorers in Turkey with 67 goals.
At the moment, Mbaye Diagne is the highest scoring Senegalese player in the Turkish top-tier League with 76 goals.
This means Thiam is just eight goals short of Diagne’s record. He stands a chance of surpassing his compatriot since he still plies his trade in Turkey.
Having previously featured for clubs like Fenerbahçe, Kasımpaşa, and Kayserispor, Thiam has become a well-known and reliable scorer in Turkey. His rise with Eyüpspor has been a testament to his experience and goal-scoring instincts.
Mame Thiam is on the verge of becoming the greatest Senegalese scorer in Turkish football history, an accomplishment that has already been rewritten.
This season. Thiam has racked up 15 goals and delivered three assists from 31 matches across competitions.
