In the Egyptian Super Cup final, Modern Future faced a formidable Al Ahly team, ultimately losing 4-2.
Despite the defeat, coach Ricardo Formosinho expressed his admiration for his team’s efforts in the post-match press conference.
“The final was characterized by intense competition and tension, and I have no comments on the refereeing team,” stated Formosinho.
He emphasized the collective nature of both victory and defeat, asserting, “No single player bears the weight of the loss; we play as a team, and both victory and defeat are shared experiences.”
Acknowledging Al Ahly’s stature, Formosinho stated, “Al Ahly is a big club, not only in Egypt but in the entire African continent.”
He further added, “Our strategy was not based on securing a draw during regular time; we played to win.
Both teams were fatigued, and in my opinion, my team deserved the victory.”
Modern Future now joins the ranks of teams defeated by Al Ahly in the Egyptian Super Cup, becoming the seventh team to experience such a fate.
Al Ahly has claimed the title over Zamalek (8), ENPPI (3), Ismaily (1), Haras El Hodoud (1), Al Masry (1), Pyramids (1), and Modern Future (1).
This victory marks Al Ahly’s first title of the current season, following missed opportunities in the African Super Cup and the African League.
Marcelo Coler, Al Ahly’s coach, secures his sixth title with the team since taking charge last season, boasting a 100% success rate in the Egyptian Super Cup against Zamalek, Pyramids, and Modern Future.
