Former Zamalek president Mamdouh Abbas clears the air over Zamalek transfers

Former Zamalek president Mamdouh Abbas has firmly distanced himself from any role in the club’s ongoing summer transfer activities.

In a post shared on his official X account on Monday, Abbas said, “I am not responsible at all for any new contracts made by Zamalek Club.” His statement comes amid growing speculation linking him to the club’s player signings.

While not taking charge of any new deals, Abbas left the door open for potential support, adding, “I may contribute to it, that’s for sure, but I’m not the decision maker. And that’s for your information.”

Abbas has recently been vocal in his criticism of the club’s board, led by Labib, yet he reaffirmed his commitment to fulfilling previous promises. He said, “My existing commitments to Zamalek remain unchanged and will be fully fulfilled, including the bonus for winning the Egypt Cup, after I fulfilled my previous promises.”

Wrapping up his statement, the former club chief respectfully bowed out of further obligations, saying, “I apologize for not taking on any new commitments. Thank you.”
