Former Wydad star Yahya Jabrane backs Walid Regragui to retain role as Morocco head coach
Speculation continues over Walid Regragui’s future with the Morocco national football team after the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final.
Reports suggested that Regragui had resigned from his post, though the Moroccan Football Federation insists no final decision has been made regarding his tenure.
Amid the growing rumours, former Wydad Casablanca star Yahya Jabrane, who currently plays for Ajman Club in the United Arab Emirates, voiced his strong support for the coach.
In an exclusive statement to Emirates Today, Jabrane said, “Regragui is one of the great coaches who have contributed a lot to Moroccan football.”
He went on to stress the national team’s interests, adding, “Keeping Regragui is in Morocco’s best interest, and he can repeat the achievement that was accomplished in the 2022 Qatar World Cup by finishing fourth.”
Jabrane added, “I support Regragui until death, and I am ready to serve my national team at any time.”
His comments underline the enduring respect and admiration that Regragui commands among Moroccan footballers, highlighting the loyalty and belief that players still have in his leadership despite recent setbacks.
