Former Wydad Casablanca coach Rulani Mokwena says he will consider the Orlando Pirates coaching job when the opportunity comes.
The South African tactician is currently without a club following his departure from the Moroccan outfit back in April.
Mokwena is one of the coaches being considered for the Orlando Pirates coaching job, as the South African outfit hunt for Jose Riveiro’s replacement.
The Spanish trainer departed the Soweto outfit last month after failing to extend his contract with the club.
In an interview, Mokwena insisted he will consider the Orlando Pirates job if the opportunity comes.
“Of course. I would consider it. It’s a big club, and there are people there close to my heart—someone I love very much, Dr. Irvin Khoza. He will always hold a special place in my heart,” Mokwena said.
“I learned from three of the best football leaders on the continent. Dr. Khoza is number one. Patrice Motsepe—what he taught me at Mamelodi Sundowns is incredible. And the third is Hicham Aït Menna. I enjoyed working with the Wydad president,” he added.
For the record, Mokwena previously managed Orlando in 2019—stepping in after Micho Sredojevic’s departure. Under Mokwena’s leadership, the Buccaneers registered 4 wins, 5 draws, and suffered an equal number of defeats.
