Former South Africa winger Junior Khanye has called on Mamelodi Sundowns to appointed Rhulani Mokwena as their new head coach.
Sundowns fell short to Pyramids in the two-legged CAF Champions League final, as the Egyptian outfit secured their first Champions League title at the weekend.
Pyramids prevailed in the return leg clash held in Cairo after inflicting a 2-1 win over their opponent, completing a 3-2 aggregate win.
While advocating for the sacking of current coach Miguel Cardoso, Khanye has called Sundowns to re-appoint Rhulani Mokwena to lead the club.
“They should get rid of him too. As for me, I would turn to Rhulani, and maybe he will come to terms with being a free agent, return and focus on coaching, because you are so talented, you are a genius.
“South Africa needs to listen to me carefully: with this guy, it’s not just Sundowns who will win, but the whole nation. If you ask me, I would have let him [Cardoso] go, because he was brought in for the Champions League, and look how much they spent on players like Artur Sales and Lucas Suarez,” he said.
Rhulani Mokwena was recently shown the exit door at Moroccan side Wydad Casablanca following an inconsistent campaoign.
