Former Senegal star Papiss Demba Cissé has made a return to football as he is set to join United Arab Emirates lower-tier club Al-Qabila
The former Newcastle United star has been out of action for almost two-years after calling it a quit in summer 2023. He last featured for French club Amiens before hanging up his boost.
Cisse was offered a deal at Al-Qabila until the end of the season after proving his fitness at training under manager Steven Taylor, his former teammate.
The 39-year-old Senegal forward is expected to play a huge role for the club as he seeks for promotion from the fourth tier league in the UAE.
Taylor has been coaching in Dubai for the past three years, having hung up his boots in 2021.
The Dakar-born player – who turns 40 in June performed admirably during his stint with Newcastle, scoring 37 goals in 117 Premeir League appearances before departing to join Chinese club Shandong.
He had stint with several clubs in Europe including FC Metz, Freiburg, Fenerbahce, Alanyaspor and others.
Cisse made 32 appearances for the Senegal national team, scoring 16 goals across the period for the Taranga Lions.
