Former Senegal international Demba Ba has been targeted by Stade Rennais as a potential sporting director, Africasoccer.com can exclusively report.
After just one-year, Frédéric Massara, who is the current sporting director of Rennais is set to depart the club at the end of the campaign.
Rennais have been inconsistent this season, leaving them in the 12th position of the French Ligue 1 standings after 26 matches.
It has been a tumultuous year for the Breton club, who, despite holding European ambitions, have found themselves closer to the relegation zone for much of the season.
Massara’s days at Rennes are numbered, with the former Chelsea star emerging as a potential replacement for the sporting director role.
Whilst Strasbourg Alsace’s Loïc Désiré remains the favourite to succeed Massara, Ba, who has performed admirably for Ligue 2 outfit USL Dunkerque remains a contender.
Demba Ba’s outfit are currently chasing promotion to the French Ligue following an outstanding performance this season.
After 27 games, USL Dunkerque find themselves in the 4th position, accumulating 48 points as the battles for promotion unfolds.
