Lamine Yamal has taken Barcelona by storm, earning high praise from former Real Madrid star Jose Maria Gutierrez, known as Guti.
The 17-year-old winger’s dazzling performances have not only turned heads but also sparked comparisons to legends, with Guti spotlighting both Yamal and club president Joan Laporta as driving forces behind Barcelona’s resurgence.
“Yamal is already a much better player than I have ever been,” Guti said.
“He is ahead of what I did in comparison to what I did. Is he the best? What does it mean to be the best? The best thing is to be the best, and it is not yet every day. He has an incredible talent, and although we often talk about the game, it is a player that is a player. A single move can turn the game.”
Guti also didn’t hold back on the Lionel Messi comparison either.
“I have never seen Messi like this at his age,” he added. “He already plays in the first division and is still a second-year youth player. At the moment he is the reference of Barcelona.”
Yamal’s stats back up the hype six goals and eleven assists in 26 La Liga appearances this season prove he’s already a game-changer.
