Former Nigerian international striker and ex-Everton player Yakubu Aiyegbeni has criticized Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah, describing the Liverpool star as “not world-class.”
In an interview with the sports website “SoccerNet,” responding to a question about his choice for the best African players in the English Premier League, players who have showcased a range of amazing skills to the football world, Aiyegbeni, a former Leicester City forward, affirmed that Mohamed Salah is not a global player.
Aiyegbeni explained that Salah “does not handle the ball well, and most of his goals are the result of luck.”
The former Reading striker selected his greatest African players in the English Premier League, naming Okocha, Drogba, Kanu, Yaya Toure, Emmanuel Adebayor, and Sadio Mane.
Aiyegbeni, 41, scored 95 goals in the English Premier League during his days playing in the competition, wearing the shirt of Liverpool’s archrivals, Everton.
He also played for clubs like Middlesbrough, Portsmouth, and Reading.
In contrast, Salah has netted 205 goals for Liverpool in 333 appearances for the English club.
