Former Manchester United forward Luís Carlos Almeida da Cunha, known in football circles Nani has announced his retirement from professional football.
At age 38, the Portuguese interantional who has Cape Verde root has called it a quit, ending his illustrious career
The former Portugal attacker made over 700 appearances during his playing days, scoring 128 goals and providing 145 assists across competitions.
“The time has come to say goodbye, I have decided to finish my career as a professional player,” Nani wrote on social media on Sunday night.
“It’s been an amazing ride and I wanted to thank every single person who has helped me and supported me through the highs and lows during a career which lasted over 20 years and gave me so many unforgettable memories. Time to turn a new leaf and focus on new goals and dreams. See you soon!”
Aside Manchester United, Nani had spells with Fenerbahce, Valencia, Lazio, Orlando City, Venezia, Melbourne Victory and Adana Demirspor last summer.
Nani had a brief spell with Portuguese top-flight side Nani Estrela this season, scoring one goals in 9 matches in the league.
