Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Thatayaone Ditlhokwe completes Al-Wehdat move

Thatayaone Ditlhokwe has completed his transfer to Jordanian Pro League club Al-Wehdat SC, ending his spell with Libyan side Al Ittihad.

The former Kaizer Chiefs defender left the South African club in February 2025 to join Al Ittihad in a deal understood to have been worth €15 million. His time with the Libyan giants lasted a year before he moved on loan to Al-Shomooa SC for five months.

Ditlhokwe has now departed permanently and will continue his career in Jordan with Al-Wehdat SC.

The move represents the latest step in the career of the Botswana international, who has won 33 caps for his country. The towering defender established himself in South African football with SuperSport United after joining the club from Township Rollers in 2020.

He went on to make 87 appearances for SuperSport United, who are also known as Matsatsantsa, before earning a move to Kaizer Chiefs in 2023.

Ditlhokwe spent two years with Amakhosi and made 32 appearances for the club. His departure in February 2025 brought an end to his time at Kaizer Chiefs and led to a new chapter in North African football with Al Ittihad.

After his five-month loan spell at Al-Shomooa SC, the defender has now secured a permanent move away from the Libyan club. Al-Wehdat SC will be his latest club following spells in Botswana, South Africa and Libya.

His professional journey began with Township Rollers, from whom he moved to SuperSport United in 2020. The defender then built a significant body of work in South Africa, recording 87 appearances for SuperSport United before joining one of the country’s most prominent clubs.

At Kaizer Chiefs, Ditlhokwe added a further 32 appearances to his club record. His performances also saw him remain an important part of the Botswana national team, for whom he has represented 33 times.

The transfer to Al-Wehdat SC means Ditlhokwe will now play in the Jordanian Pro League after leaving Al-Shomooa SC and completing his permanent exit from Al Ittihad.
