Former Africa football icon John Obi Mikel has reiterated Nigeria international Victor Osimhen’s desire to play Chelsea.
Osimhen came close to joining the Blues last summer but the transfer fell through at the last moment.
With the Nigeria star set for a permanent departure from Napoli in the summer, the Premier League remains confident of snatching the highly-rated attacker.
The on-loan Napoli striker is set for a permanent departure from the Serie A giants, with several top clubs in Europe showing keen interest in the former Serie A goal king.
Speaking to beIN SPORTS, the former midfielder disclosed his compatriot wants to join Chelsea and is aware of where the negotiations stalled last summer.
“He wants to play for Chelsea. I know where we left off in terms of the contract, I know where we stand. It’s easy to resolve because we did all the hard work last summer,” commented the former Chelsea midfielder.
The Nigeria international joined Galatasaray last summer on season long loan, with his spell in Turkey set to come to an end in June 2025.
It is a dry loan with Galatasaray simply covering his salary from September until June at a cost of €10 million.
He has enjoyed a fantastic season with Galatasaray, scoring 31 goals in 36 games in all competitions.
Osimhen will return to Napoli at the end of the season and then leave the club permanently.
The 26-year-old has a release clause in his Napoli contract worth €75 million, for foreign clubs only.
