Former head of Al Ahly’s football company, Adly El-Qeiy, has slammed head coach Marcel Koller for throwing his players under the bus when things do not go well for the team.
Speaking in an interview after Al Ahly’s 1-1 draw with Pyramids FC, Adly El-Qeiy said that although Koller is a respected coach, his handling of the team’s dressing room is not the best.
“Koller is a respected coach, and we have seen since his arrival that he imposes justice within the team and gives opportunities to players who train hard.
“Over time, we have seen that when Koller turns against a player, he lacks justice, just as former coach Pitso Mosimane did. I don’t know the secret of the coach’s stubbornness with the players.
“I don’t like Koller’s press conferences for a year and a half. He always blames others and places it on the management and players, and thus he lost his relationship with the players, which is a negative point,” Adly El-Qeiy lamented as quoted by Koora.
Following Al Ahly’s draw against Pyramids, the team is third in the Egyptian Premier League standings and trails league leaders Pyramids by seven points.
