Former Al Ahly head coach Marcel Koller is demanding a significant financial settlement from the Egyptian giants, following his recent dismissal from the club.
The Swiss tactician, who was sacked after Al Ahly’s failure to defend their CAF Champions League crown — losing in the semifinals to Mamelodi Sundowns — is reportedly seeking $3 million in unpaid entitlements.
The amount is said to include a penalty clause for the premature termination of his contract as well as outstanding payments from the final year of his deal.
Koller’s departure ended a successful tenure that spanned nearly three years, during which he guided the Cairo-based club to 11 trophies, cementing his place among the club’s most decorated coaches in recent history.
According to reports, Koller has sent a formal notice to the club’s management, outlining his financial demands.
Negotiations between the coach’s representatives and Al Ahly have since begun in an attempt to reach a mutual agreement.
Club lawyer Abdullah Shehata is currently leading discussions on behalf of Al Ahly, with insiders indicating the club is keen to avoid a legal battle.
Officials reportedly reached out to Koller after receiving his warning letter, expressing a desire to resolve the matter amicably, citing the positive relationship the club enjoyed with the 64-year-old during his tenure.
The situation remains ongoing, with both parties hoping to settle the dispute without further escalation.
