KCCA FC Clinches Second Consecutive Ugandan Title with Dominant 3-1 Victory Over SC Villa
Kampala, Uganda – Kampala City Council Authority Football Club (KCCA FC) secured their second successive Ugandan Premier League title with a commanding 3-1 win over arch-rivals Sports Club Villa last Tuesday, wrapping up a successful season with 60 points from 30 matches.
The match, held at the Kampala Stadium, saw KCCA put in a clinical performance, particularly in the first half, where they raced into a 2-0 lead. The opening goal came courtesy of Steven Bengo, a key figure for the team and a standout Uganda national team player. The second strike was netted by defender Ronnie Kiseeka, who doubled KCCA’s advantage. However, the match would take an unexpected turn, as Kiseeka inadvertently turned the ball into his own net, gifting SC Villa a lifeline and reducing the lead to 2-1.
Despite the unfortunate own goal, KCCA maintained control of the game, and before the half-time whistle, they extended their advantage to 3-0, with William Madri finding the back of the net. This goal, which further solidified their grip on the match, proved to be the decisive moment, as SC Villa could not recover in the second half.
KCCA finished the campaign on top of the table with 60 points, edging out their closest rivals, SC Villa, who finished with 59 points. The tight title race underlined the competitive nature of the Ugandan league this season, but it was KCCA’s consistency throughout the campaign that ultimately saw them lift the coveted trophy once again.
With the league title secured, KCCA FC now turns its focus to international competition, having earned a spot in next season’s CAF Champions League. The victory not only cements their domestic dominance but also provides a prestigious platform for the club to showcase its talents on the continental stage.
Looking ahead, KCCA FC has the chance to complete a remarkable double, with the club set to face SC Victoria University in the upcoming Uganda Cup final. A victory in that match would add another piece of silverware to KCCA’s trophy cabinet, further cementing their position as the dominant force in Ugandan football.
For KCCA coach Morley Byekwaso and his squad, the season has been a resounding success, and they will now look to build on this momentum as they prepare for the challenges of both domestic and continental competitions in the months to come. The club’s supporters, who have been unwavering in their support, will undoubtedly be hoping for even greater achievements as the team continues to assert itself as one of the top footballing institutions in East Africa.
