SAFA (South African Football Federation) has faced a significant setback as German company Puma terminated its equipment sponsorship contract. Puma exercised its right to end the technical partnership due to SAFA’s involvement in a match-fixing scandal the previous year. The decision comes after FIFA suspended many officials from the local body. This termination is another blow for South African football, coming just 24 hours after losing the sponsor for its first division championship (PSL) as Absa decided not to renew its contract with SAFA at the end of the year.
