The study by World Soccer magazine ranked the South African Premier Soccer League (PSL) as the 25th best football championship in the world. The rankings were based on various factors, including championship finances, stadium attendance, average goals scored, coaching quality, stadium architecture, competitiveness, and player standards.
The top three football leagues in the world, according to the study, were as follows:
- Bundesliga (Germany)
- Premier League (England)
- La Liga (Spain)
Other notable rankings included Serie A (Italy) at 4th, Brasilerao (Brazil) at 5th, Liga Mexicana (Mexico) at 6th, and MLS (United States) at 7th. Ligue 1 (France) was ranked 9th, following the Dutch Eredivisie at 8th. The Argentine Primera Division rounded out the top 10.
The study aimed to provide an overall assessment of football leagues worldwide, taking into account various aspects of the game’s infrastructure and popularity in each country.
