Despite facing criticism, Gordon Igesund will continue as the head coach of Bafana Bafana until the end of his contract, as decided by the South African Football Federation (SAFA) following a meeting with him. This decision comes amidst recent scrutiny, particularly after Bafana Bafana’s disappointing performance at the African Nations Championship.
SAFA President Danny Jordaan clarified that any changes within the coaching staff would apply universally and not solely to Igesund. Igesund will remain in his position until June, after which further decisions will be made.
Additionally, Igesund will face an investigation regarding allegations of demanding money from certain players for their selection. SAFA has stated that an inquiry will be conducted into these accusations.
In the meantime, Igesund is expected to announce the squad for the upcoming friendly against Brazil on March 5 in Johannesburg.
