In the decisive match of the 2013 Parliament Cup final, held at Dakar’s Demba Diop Stadium, Institut Diambars de Saly showcased dominance by defeating Diaraf with a 1-0 score. Christian Pascal Diatta, who had recently transferred from Casa Sport, scored the lone goal in the 6th minute of the game. The “Diambaristes” effectively managed this lead, securing their third consecutive Parliament Cup trophy after victories in 2011, 2012, and now 2013.
The accompanying trophy came with a prize of 2 million FCFA, surpassing Diaraf’s 1.5 million FCFA reward and Casa Sport’s third-place finish, earning them 1.2 million FCFA. Casa Sport secured their position by defeating Kawral de Vélingara with a commanding 5-0 score, earning one million FCFA.
It’s worth noting that the Parliament tournament, organized by the National Assembly of Senegal with a budget of 10 million FCFA, serves as a prelude to the upcoming season. This event, held a week before the season kickoff, provides teams with an opportunity to set the tone for the championship and assess each other under revised regulations. Notably, the tournament featured the outgoing Senegal champion, the vice champion, the winner of the Senegal Cup, and the National champion, the Diambars Institute from Ligue 1 Pro.
