Once again, the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) has faced a postponement, this time to facilitate the completion of player registrations by the various clubs, league officials announced. Originally scheduled to commence on February 23, the championship has been rescheduled.
“We have reached an agreement, based on popular demand, to postpone the start date of the championship to allow clubs to finalize the registration process,” stated Nduka Irabor, a prominent figure in the league administration. However, Irabor cautioned that clubs failing to meet the new deadline for player registrations would face consequences.
“There will be no further extensions. We will commence on March 7 with the clubs that are fully compliant,” added Irabor. Notably, Kano Pillars are the reigning champions of the league.
