FRMF plans tribute ceremony for departing Morocco coach Walid Regragui
Walid Regragui is set to be honoured by the Royal Moroccan Football Federation as Morocco prepares to announce a change in leadership for the Morocco national football team.
The federation is expected to officially confirm the coaching transition on Thursday, marking the end of Regragui’s tenure with the Atlas Lions.
According to reports from Al Mountakhab, a ceremony has been planned to recognise the outgoing coach’s contribution to the national side.
The event is due to take place at the Mohammed VI Football Complex, the training and administrative centre used by Morocco’s national teams.
During the gathering, officials are expected to formally acknowledge Regragui’s work before confirming the next phase for the national squad.
The ceremony will not only serve as a farewell to the outgoing manager but will also mark the beginning of a new chapter for the team.
The federation is expected to introduce Mohamed Ouahbi and his staff as the new technical leadership of the Atlas Lions.
Regragui’s departure signals a significant moment for Moroccan football, with the federation preparing to shift direction as it reshapes the national team’s coaching structure.
While the official announcement has yet to be made, preparations for the ceremony suggest the transition is imminent.
The planned event is intended to recognise the work carried out under Regragui’s leadership before handing over responsibility to the incoming staff.
Such ceremonies are often used by federations to publicly acknowledge a coach’s service while introducing the next managerial team to supporters and the media.
With Ouahbi and his technical team expected to be presented during the same event, the federation appears keen to ensure a smooth transition between the outgoing and incoming coaching groups.
The formal announcement on Thursday is therefore expected to close one chapter for the Atlas Lions while opening another, as Morocco prepares to move forward under new guidance.
