It’s official. Patrice Neveu remains in Mauritania. Announced for his departure to Congo for many weeks, the French technician has just announced that he is extending his lease at the head of the Mourabitounes. This was confirmed through a press conference organized this Sunday by the FFRIM (Football Federation of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania).
“I am committed to Mauritania until 2015,” was stated on the FFRIM Facebook page. These comments confirm the twist that occurred in the affair last week involving the Mauritanian presidency. Neveu’s current contract ended in January 2014. Last July, he did not rule out staying despite his desire for new challenges: “I have a few months of contract left (until January 2014, Editor’s note). I have the ambition to play major competitions again and to coach teams that have the potential to compete in these major competitions. I am a coach who loves Africa. I don’t know at all what my future will be, if I will continue here or if I will discover another country. It will depend on a lot of factors.”
Qualified for the first time for an African competition, Mauritania will, therefore, be able to count on Patrice Neveu next January for the CHAN 2014 in South Africa.
