Hassan Benabicha, currently in charge of the Moroccan national team, faces challenges in finalizing the squad for the upcoming friendly match against Gabon on March 5. He has decided to omit players from Raja Casablanca due to their involvement in the African C1 competition, instead considering European-based players as replacements.
Regarding potential coaching appointments, Benabicha addressed the possibility of Hervé Renard taking over the national team, praising his achievements with Zambia in winning the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations. He sees Renard more as a national team coach than a club coach.
Benabicha also commented on Mehdi Benatia’s reluctance to play for Morocco, emphasizing that the decision ultimately lies with the player. He expressed disappointment in Younes Belhanda’s declining performance since his time at Montpellier, highlighting a noticeable drop in his level of play.
Furthermore, Benabicha discussed Adam Ennafi, a player from CFA Lille, whom he has been monitoring for several years. Despite not playing regularly for Lille, Benabicha considers Ennafi to be an excellent player with character, originating from the Mohamed 6 academy.
