Domingo Mituy Edjang, who was appointed as president of the Equatoguinean Football Federation on February 25 for a 4-year term, is facing pressure to step down. He has been accused of various wrongdoings including embezzlement, abuse of power, loss of credibility with political authorities and private entities, and misinterpretation of statutes.
Edjang vehemently denies these accusations, alleging that they are politically motivated and aimed at forcing him out of his position. He has lodged an appeal with FIFA, claiming interference from political authorities.
In response to the crisis, FIFA has dispatched an emissary, Primo Gorge Corvaro, to Malabo. Corvaro has affirmed that Domingo Mituy Edjang remains the recognized president of Feguifut by FIFA.
To resolve the situation, Corvaro has called for a new congress to be convened within the next two weeks. This congress will decide whether to overturn Edjang’s dismissal and, if necessary, proceed with the election of a new president. It is expected to involve the same 36 delegates who participated in the previous vote on January 26, 2013.
