Eugène Ekéké, the hero of the Italy 90 World Cup, faced an unsuccessful appeal regarding the penalties imposed by the Cameroonian Football Federation (Fécafoot). The approval and disciplinary chamber of Fécafoot confirmed the sanctions, which include prohibiting Ekéké from serving as a club president for five years, relegating his club, Eugène Ekéké Academy of Douala, by two divisions, and imposing a fine of 250,000 CFA francs. These penalties were imposed due to Ekéké and four other club leaders affiliated with the Littoral Region Football League refusing to play matches on the 14th day of the local championship and demanding the treatment of disputes on appeal. The verdict is viewed by some as a settling of scores, and Ekéké and others may consider a voluntary appeal to challenge the decision.
