Bamboutos de Mbouda has been reinstated in the first division, marking a significant resolution in a meeting involving the standardization committee of the Cameroon Football Federation (Fécafoot) and the Cameroon Professional Football League (Lfpc) on January 7, 2014. The club returns to the first division after seven years, following their demotion of two divisions for alleged acts of corruption, which were ultimately not proven. Bamboutos contested the Fécafoot sanction and won their case for the second time in court. The decision increases the number of clubs in the Ligue 1 championship from 14 to 19, as opposed to the previously decided 18.
