Senegal’s national football team, the Lions, is still in search of an opponent for the upcoming FIFA date on March 5. While several national teams have finalized their plans for matches on that date, Senegal is reportedly not satisfied with the offers they have received. Despite interest from teams like Mexico, Croatia, Costa Rica, and Mali, the Senegalese football officials believe that the proposed matches do not meet their expectations.
Mali, led by their new coach Henry Kasperzack, is among the potential opponents. However, logistical challenges, such as the distance between Senegal and some of the teams, need to be addressed. For instance, Costa Rica and Mexico are far from Senegalese bases, making it difficult to organize the matches.
If Senegal were to face Mali, the president of the Senegalese football federation suggests that the costs associated with the match would be shared, and the game could be played in France. This arrangement would ensure that all players are available for the Lions, providing flexibility for coach Alain Giresse.
