Ishak Belfodil has finalized his loan move to Italian club Livorno until the end of the season, departing from Inter Milan where he lacked playing time. With only 8 appearances in Serie A for Inter, the Algerian striker saw the opportunity to join Livorno, a decision influenced by fellow Fennecs defender Djamel Mesbah, who also recently joined the club on loan.
Speaking to the Algerian daily Le Buteur, Belfodil revealed that while he initially considered a move to England, the chance to play for Livorno was too good to pass up. Despite interest from Premier League clubs like West Bromwich and West Ham, he opted to remain in Serie A. Belfodil was swayed by the positive environment and the camaraderie within Livorno, particularly after conversations with Mesbah and Alfred Duncan.
Reflecting on his time at Inter Milan, Belfodil acknowledged it as a valuable experience, despite his limited playing opportunities. Now, he is focused on making the most of his time at Livorno and contributing to the team’s efforts, especially in avoiding relegation. Belfodil expressed his determination to play a significant role for Livorno and emphasized the impression the club made on him during their encounter with Inter Milan at San Siro.
