Folarin Balogun’s Monaco future uncertain as Fiorentina consider loan approach

Fiorentina are considering a move for AS Monaco forward Folarin Balogun, with the Italian club exploring the possibility of signing the United States international on loan.

Balogun’s future in the Principality appears increasingly uncertain, according to Santi Aouna, as Fiorentina look to strengthen their attacking options. The Serie A side have reportedly expressed an interest in the striker and are assessing whether a temporary deal could be agreed with Monaco.

A loan move would give Balogun the opportunity to secure more regular playing time and rebuild his momentum after a spell in which his position at Monaco has become less clear. However, Fiorentina are not the only club monitoring the situation.

Everton are also following the forward closely and could soon make their own approach. The Premier League club may attempt to persuade Monaco to allow Balogun to leave, setting up competition between the two sides for his signature.

Balogun joined Monaco with significant expectations and remains under contract with the club until June 2028. Despite the uncertainty surrounding his immediate future, the 24-year-old continues to retain considerable market value.

His valuation has been estimated at 50m euros by Transfermarkt, meaning any discussions over a permanent transfer would involve a substantial fee. Fiorentina’s interest is therefore focused on the possibility of a loan, while Everton could also consider how best to structure a potential deal.

The contrasting interest from the two clubs leaves Monaco with a decision to make over Balogun’s next step. A temporary departure could allow the striker to play more consistently elsewhere, while also offering him the chance to regain confidence and form. For now, however, his long-term place in Monaco’s plans remains open.

The forward’s situation comes as Monaco prepare for their third match of the French championship, when they will face Paris Saint-Germain. The fixture will provide another immediate focus for the club as discussions over Balogun’s future develop.

According to the betting company 1xBet, Monaco are priced at 6.60 to win the match, with a draw listed at 5.20 and a Paris Saint-Germain victory at 1.36.
