AS Monaco’s star forward, Folarin Balogun, will be sidelined for four months after undergoing surgery on a dislocated left shoulder, coach Adi Hütter confirmed.
The 23-year-old’s injury woes began during an early October clash with Stade Rennais. Initially projected to miss two months, Balogun made a swift return in late November, featuring as a substitute against Benfica in the UEFA Champions League and starting against Olympique Marseille days later.
Unfortunately, the discomfort lingered, worsened by a physical challenge with Marseille defender Leonardo Balerdi. After consulting medical experts, the decision was made for Balogun to undergo surgery. Speaking before Monaco’s recent loss to Arsenal, Hütter disclosed that the operation is scheduled for tomorrow and that Balogun will likely be out of action until April 2025.
Balogun, who joined Monaco on August 30, 2023, on a five-year deal for a reported €30 million fee (potentially rising to €40 million with add-ons), made his debut just days later against Lens. His absence will undoubtedly be a significant blow to Monaco’s attacking ambitions as they navigate a demanding season.
