Finnish champions HJK Helsinki beat rivals to sign Nigerian teenager David Temidayo Olorunfemi
Finnish champions HJK Helsinki have moved ahead of clubs in Sweden and Denmark to complete the signing of promising Nigerian striker David Temidayo Olorunfemi from Tripple 44 Football Academy.
The 19-year-old forward has signed a contract running until the end of the 2027 season, with the Finnish giants retaining the option to extend the agreement by a further year as they continue investing in young talent with long-term potential.
Olorunfemi arrives in Helsinki regarded as one of Nigeria’s emerging prospects after impressing at academy level with his attacking qualities and development. His move also represents another important step for Tripple 44 Football Academy, which continues to produce players attracting growing attention from European clubs.
Olorunfemi eager for European challenge
The teenage striker expressed excitement after sealing his first move to Europe and believes the opportunity at HJK offers the ideal platform for his development.
“It feels great to come here, this is a great opportunity for me. Striving towards domestic success and Euro competitions is exactly the kind of challenge I have been looking for. I can’t wait to help the team as best I can,” Olorunfemi told the club’s official website.
The youngster also revealed he has already settled comfortably into his new surroundings after arriving in the Finnish capital.
“I got a really good first impression of Helsinki. The food, weather and scenery are amazing. I look forward to settling here and getting to know more.”

Olorunfemi’s transfer further strengthens Tripple 44 Academy’s growing reputation for developing players capable of making the transition to European football.
He joins a list of academy graduates already progressing abroad, including Ibrahim Adewale and Emmanuel Godwin, as the Nigerian outfit continues to establish pathways for young players seeking opportunities outside the country.
